We, the undersigned writers and all who will join us, support Occupy Wall Street and the Occupy Movement around the world.
Here are at least 200 writers who represent a range of readership, genres, and communities. So far, it seems to be grounded in name recognition, but maybe that's an effective way to get things done.
Rumor has it, the first name on the list was Salman Rushdie. I saw him give a very thoughtful talk in a library in Barcelona several years ago--he gave the room such a genuine and uniting energy.
Occupy Writers also includes original poems by D.A. Powell, Anne Waldman, and many others.
That's the community on a broad, national level. If you're in Honolulu,

which, so far, seems to have a lazer focus on specific local causes and protests.
